Did this video help you?

Arturo Colon: I just did this to my 04 Sierra 1500 and when I plugged in new encoder motor and switched it to 2wd on the button select after a minute my 4wd lights just went out and now I can’t get them to turn on any ideas? The switch turns on for a few seconds and then off

Troy O'Dell: I bought a truck they said the previous owner pulled the 4x4 out does that mean they prolly pulles the whole transfer case out

fastrivers: I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado and can hear my transfer case shift motor whine when it tries to shift. I do get a "4WD Serv" error on the dashboard. I cannot find the term "Transfer Case Shift Motor" on your site for my vehicle. The front shift actuator does come up but I don't think that's what I need. Do you have one?

Chromatic Vision studio: I rebuild my 2005 Tahoe z71 transfer case np246 np8 because it had a pump knock problem and create a hole in the rear housing. Now my problem is that it won’t shift in any of the 4wd modes like in the video and the electronic encoder is making the same noise. I also was thinking that maybe that tab on the main output shaft under the clutch pack was installed incorrectly by the shift fork, but this seems exactly what my truck is doing. Could that tab be an issue for why the tc won’t engage in any other gear besides 2wd. The truck runs it’s just when I try to put in any 4wd it blinks and goes back to 2high.

cash rouse: I thought for sure it was my switch in the dash, so I replaced it, but no, the 4wd still didnt work. So it must be the actuator, I replaced that and still no 4wd. I checked the wiring, cleaned the grounds, checked fuses and searched forums and decided to bring it in to get diagnosed ao they could pinpoint the problem. Well they weren't able to pinpoint it and that cost $127.00 , lol. So i decided to replace the transfer case motor and used this video. It was very helpful. I didn't have to remove u joint bearing, the electrical connections were kinda hard to unhook. I had to manually put transfer case in nuetral to line up with new motor. I'm just a you tube mechanic so this was a bit challenging. I have no impact wrenches or means to raise vehicle, so it was tight under there. Anyway, I did it and it worked! I'm very happy. Thanks!

super.go: This is a stupid question but when not in 4wd is it front or rear wd ? Thanks

Matthew Webber: Myn clunks and does go into 4x4 but just quit working today could this be it

Mayda Olguin: How can I tell if mine is in 2wd mine locked the 4wd in 4l count get it out had to remove the motor and put manually I just want to make sure before I put the other one

Seth Myers: Direct linkage is the best. No computer bs

Every-Day Joe: Excellent instructional with clear views of each step.

haroaero: I have a question. I have an 04 Silverado 1500. It's telling me to service 4WD and my ABS light is on along with my Parking brake light(even tho the brake is not on). Would that be the issue fixed in this video or is it something more? It won't go into 4WD either.

DuVieX050: Mine will go into 4 hi with no issue, but not 4 lo, and it won't go back into 2 hi, any ideas?

wmkess: My 2005 Silverado hasn't been able to go into 4wd low for a few months now. Today while driving in 2wd every time I went down a long hill where it was essentially coasting the transfer case was totally disengaging as if my transmission was in neutral. Stopping and cycling from 4wd back to 2wd fixed it each time with a super loud clunk. Is the encoder motor the likely culprit for both the new prob plus the old one of no 4wd low?

RLB31094: I can't get the teeth to line up, how do I fix this?

Sergio Ramirez: Hi thank for video it helps me a lot if I order parts from you how many days it takes to get it

Sohaib Kholosy: Thanks for the video was really nice, i was wondering is it possible to remove the wire harness and disconnect the motor without removing it? Or its better to remove it ?

Mario Flores: what if the truck does go into 4x4 but when your driving it in 4x4 you hear a crakkng sound

Kelly Ricketts: Thanks Kindly, Helped out !

Donald Steiner: Good vid but you should mention eye protection. Every time I work under a car I get rust, dirt, fluid, etc etc in my eye and swear Ill never do it again lol

wmkess: What if the transfer case will go into 4wd high no problem but fail to engage 4wd low? My 2005 Silverado 1500 does this now. I can hear a loud clunk, like it typically made in the past when it engages into low, but it doesn't engage and then it clunks again like it is giving it a second shot. It has been doing this even after multiple restarts and trying it at a stand still and a slow roll (1-3 mph like the manual states) and always in neutral.
