Casper: Hey Johnny, NOW do this again. I think you need to solder the strips to the GPS and WIFI anntenaes , what you have is a layer of glue between the copper, result, no connection. IMHO
Sly Wink: I think the problem is the back side of a tablet. Its made of alunminium so basicaly its a kind of screen that reduces the signal perseption. Maybe you should apply the tape horrisontaly so that it runs along the plastic side of a tablet.
Just in case you are still using it ))
Mark Ritz: i didn't work but thanks anyway for you time doing the video
Oguzhan Turkmen: Is it really useful? Is it worth to try?
Rob Smith: Hi....Not related to GPS or Wifi....the tear down video is excellent....I was cleaning my lens cover on my rear facing 8M camera and though it was Gorilla glass or even glass.....it's not and I pushed a little too hard and reshaped my lens cover sorta like a bowl! I know Asshole move....but do you happen to know how to access the rear metal cover to access my lens cover to pelace or repair it? Thanks! in advance... Great Work!!
Jorge Gomez: not trying to be an a-hole or anything but this is not gonna work! the GPS is useless in this thing even with the GPS dongle, just get an actual GPS or send it to Asus repair facility to hopefully get a new MB, this trick WILL burn your motherboard over time....
Johnny Phung: I tried it with tape on the outside but did not see any better results. Sorry for the late reply and thanks for watching!
ivan perusse: art store, as they use it for stained glass craftwork.
Johnny Phung: Nice.
ivan perusse: I opened mine yesterday and found out that the power connector was loose. Ducked it back and now my tablets works fine (also did a complete system reset) Now I will do the tape thing for the Wi-fi and try as I said to have the tape outside tne tablet, because I think that the metal case is the problem, so even if you put tape inside, metal case will still make a signal barrier. Wifi waves aren't the same of GPS.
Johnny Phung: I put a link in the description. You might also be able to find it at a Radio Shack.
KP Frederiksberg: And where to buy this copper ? :-) Nice Video
ivan perusse: since the metal casing is the problem to GPS reception, maybe having the tape hanging outside, sticked to the back of the tablet? I have to open mine for a major bug (tablet stuck on a boot loop, but maybe I have a broken connection (it had received some back shocks) Anyway, thanks for the opening instruction. Since it is useless has it is now, I will open it up to have a glance.
Johnny Phung: Thanks so much for watching. It is still running strong!
mdanny445: I have a case number to send in mine to asus and have rear facing camera connection fixed, and now I just broke the stupid micro hdmi connector!!! soo annoying!!! I wish they would have put more thought into the port locations! still, I love my prime! hehe
mdanny445: that was cool to watch! I especially liked the part where you mention, it'll be amazing, great.. or I'm going to end up with a broken asus transformer prime. eithr way.... really good video man. simply taking it apart requires guts!
Johnny Phung: Glad it worked out for you! Thanks for watching!
Jon Spear: A thousand thank you's Johnnythegeek. My micro SD card somehow slipped in behind the glass and I couldn't get it out and I wouldn't have had the guts to open it up without this video. You rock.
Johnny Phung: Both sides of the tape is made of copper. So the metal copper is touching both the existing external antenna and the connection. Thanks for watching!
Tipcat Deneb: Hi might it be that the gps doesn't work because of the copper tape actually going over the connection thingie?
