hidesertmlb: Author's video and writeup makes it all sound easy using odin, which it is,
BUT, major carriers will lock the bootloader to thwart rooting. This means
if you blindly march into flashing CWM on a factory image, you will get an
upload error in odin and wind up with a bricked phone.

Wesley Haley: Root just allows you to have access to the complete system. This allows you
to install some powerful apps that have to have that access to function. It
also allows you to flash custom ROM's, or different versions of Android,
onto your device, if you are not happy with the stock. I personally think
that the Note II's touchwiz interface is perfect, so I won't be messing
with it. However, I'd love to get rid of how it always asks me about wifi,
so I may eventually go to a custom rom
androidcritics: Epic fail? I only used windows so I can root my note 2, think again.
Francesco Agostini: Does this work with note 2 with carriers such as
(Sprint,T-Mobile,AT&T,Verizon) ??? Or it has to be factory unlocked???
Mark MacIver: After Apple got bailed out by Microsoft, back in the early 90's, they
changed their vendors for their computers... they used to use a totally
different architecture, with Motorola chips... now they use PC architecture
with Intel chips... they're PCs! That's why I hate all the mis-information
commercials that say "HI, I'm a PC & I'm a Mac! "Mac OS works on all PCs,
just as Windows will work on Macs.
