eugeniussr: Great video - thanks! Was looking at how to take the solids out of the IBC.
ruten45: Thank you again ! I will order the adapters and get a water bottle for mine and the uniseals etc. IS the sand filter just a vase with some filter media surrounding the drain pipe to prevent it from coming out ? After overflowing from it looks like the water bubbles up from the sand filter into a bed of Activated Charcoal and some egg crate to surround the pump and some more filter media to keep the solids from returning to the fish tank (or growing bed). Do I have it correct?
loadedoperator7: It's called a Banjo 2" Buttress x 2" Male NPT Threads w/ Santoprene Gasket
loadedoperator7: Here is what it is called..Banjo 2" Buttress x 2" Male NPT Threads w/ Santoprene Gasket
ruten45: Where can we get the tote adapter ?
Mark Lawson: hi were could i get the adapter for ibc as my handle broke and iv had to silicone it all up
loadedoperator7: The sand filter is a back up for the swirl filter. If any waste or waste caseing gets past the swirl filter, it will get groound up in the sand...
loadedoperator7: Yes the bottom of the filter or water bottle is connected to the draining pvc for flushing out the waste. It is called a fernco coupling and I believe it is 2", the sand is just plain play sand from Lowes. Both can be bought there..
jimsta10: Hi, can you please explain how the connection at the botton of the swirl filter works? what adaptor fittings used? Also, can you also explain how the sand filter works? is that just normal beach sand? thanks
loadedoperator7: Thanks for watching
loadedoperator7: I got them at petco but in sure you can get them in any pet store. These tend to run out so i got 3 of them. It's made by EHEIM AUTOMATIC FISH FEEDER, Around $30 each. price matched it at $20 each. do some reasearch. Might be a better brand out there. Thanks
loadedoperator7: So far no racoons have come to my house. I have a dog
loadedoperator7: What im doing is removing the solid waste by spinning it out in the swirl filter and flushing the solid waste into a one gallon container and feed it to my house plants or if you have a garden. I do Aquaponics mostly. This little farm was to get the fish big enough to add to my system. Filters do more than I need done. Im just getting the solids out and the active bacteria and your plants does the rest
loadedoperator7: YES IT IS 1.5 INCH. THEY ARE CALLED UNISEALS AND ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE..
Kelly L.: Pretty creative what you've done. I've been gathering intel on deep water aquaponics, but it looks like you just do fish. Aren't there nice outdoor pond filters that do all that?
Also, how do you keep predators like racoons away from your fish?
Alan Lloyd: Great. Thanks for sharing.
It's a wonderfull setup.
How did you manage to connect the 20 liter container to a pipe?
It is a 1.5 inch pipe right?
loadedoperator7: Yes the small pump in the bottom of the black tote is pushing the water back into the large fish tank causing it to overflow out the bottom of the large fish tabk into the swirl filter...
txdurk: Sorry. "I'm confused how solids..."
txdurk: I'm confused out solids rise up the vertical pipe to your swirl filter. Is there a pump somewhere pulling waste from the IBC?
