Jeff Yentzer: You sure can d o crop rotation with raised beds
Gardening With Puppies: Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to make sure my hubby watches it.
Niki Anderson: How is the soil drainage?
MaruAdventurer: Mr. Yentzer, that is very innovative use of pallets. Kudos.
Ariel Rainault: The only thing he forgot to mention was using untreated wood pallets :)
k2c3po: great idea for the desert
Nollala: Great video!!! How would I know if my pallets are treated with chemicals
DRUMMINGANDDRIFTING: Nice job, I will build this soon.
Brittany D'Arcangelo Taramasco: Thank you for the wonderful and free idea! I love to garden and never
thought about the other tree roots taking the nutrients
Lina Chen: beautify. Thanks
k9griffin9: Way cool demonstration! Love it!
Shane Mahlin: What tools would you suggest using?
Matt Gregory: Great Video Jeff.
Cheryl Kunzelman: Great video. Want to come and build me some lol? I saw a sign that said
free pallets at a trucking company last week. Hence the search for making
raised beds from pallets. Its winter here now but maybe a project for next
spring. I'll save this in my favorites.
Zannnnah: Superb video thank you xxx
Sheds Direct Manchester: Is it possible to apply crops rotation process in a raised bed garden?I
just realized the main objectives of building such garden with the use of
pallets. You've got a smart ideas. Good job!
lizzyanthus1: How cool, thanks! They look tall enough also to be usefull for someone who
can't kneel or bend quite so much like wheelchair bound people. Very nice.
cho ray: It depends. Those pallets go on ships internationally must be treated by law
TheColombianFlower: what kind of wood did u place ontop of the pallets plywood?
Yolanda Hernandez: Me gusta yo hace
marcela shagas: Great job!
CubbieBearandAmyBear: How many pallets get to make that one, long, raised bed? I'm from the LA
area and probably would be able to get pallets from our downtown produce
Jeff Yentzer: Problem is tree roots can grow into your garden if it is touching the
ground. Roots cannot grow through the air.
Raquel Relph: Nice! I have a small problem. I have no tools (aside from a hammer and some
nails) that, according to this video, are needed to build these raised beds
with pallets and not a dime to buy any thing. Do you think that the depth
of one upside down pallet would be deep enough for most plants? I was
thinking of stacking two, with the top one upside down (to plant in), then
boarding up the sides, laying down cardboard and staggering them to prevent
too much drainage. Think it would work?
Kristina Keller: :) THANK YOU !!
rajavj: Most Pallets in Australia are soaked in Arsenic chemical dye to make them
last. You can notice a slight coloration to them. Avoid those.
Kent Curtis: This guy is a genius! :) Keep it up Nathan!
mkoch10463: I'm new too "pallet gardening" so ...a couple of questions. you had
mentioned that the air space in between the bottom of the pallet and the
ground is so the ground side does not suck all of the nutrients out of the
pallet side. wouldn't you use less water and have more nutrients if it was
partially in ground or all inground (keep the open spaces in the pallets
and just lay the pallet on the ground...maybe add a weed barrier or plastic
with holes in it)? just thinking & trying to understand.
DACHAGS8: Good stuff man!!
Evalwind: Genius man!
TorahServantYAH: This is a really awesome idea for my summer garden make over. Thanks!
Kamden Allen: Brilliant! I love it!
NOJ LEFPAZLOH: Those are some pallets!
OrganicWheatGreens: LOVE HOW PEOPLE ARE UTILIZING PALLETS!!
Kayleigh Zupi: I am under the impression that heat treated pallets do not have the
chemicals that other pallets do. You will see a stamp with "HT" on the
pallet. I have seen on other DIY sites that parents use these HT pallets
for decoration in kids bedrooms.. Hope it's true!
Tina Levy: Pallets are NOT treated because they have such a short life span in their
natural shipping and warehousing environments.
MrPBurd: Never would have considered pallets. I have access to a boat load of them
and I garden with raised beds. Thanks for the great tip and demonstration.
Sandy Birch: Stack 2 for a higher bed (back surgery) . 1st upside down, second one with
open side up. Continue with the rest of the directions. Do you think it
will work from a weight standpoint?
Ted Baxter: I tore apart some pallets and built raised beds. Problem with raised beds
is unless they are irrigated, some plants that need lots of water won't do
well. Build an self watering earthbox. Sort of a raised bed with a source
of water below it. You wouldn't believe how important the constant presence
of water is in feeding a plant. Read "Teaming with Nutrients".
Valerie Hopkins: I want to make a raised garden bed so badly this year. Lately I have been
seeing them made out of pallets. This one though has got to be the one.
