SteveXnycperformance: from looking at it, it`s metric 8mm 24 thread per inch. 13/16 or 21mm 6 point socket for removal.
MERLINSSCEPTOR: What is the thread size on the supercharger snout?
SteveXnycperformance: its slick to provide will to create a earning, but you can also fall from the slick. so balance your self herbalist.
TheChimpAssassin: How did you know my name is Herb. You're right, you are slick.
SteveXnycperformance: The correct word is "slick" something you will never become Herb
TheChimpAssassin: is it just me or does this guy seem kinda dodgy?
snoopy60638: Wat state r u in Steve? Can I send u my SC snout and pulley? I'll pay u to put it on
Z34Phoenix: there is no key slot on the standard m90. the manga charger that is sold on some sites does have special keyed pulleys though. but these are rare.
Paul O'Neal: Autozone....
SteveXnycperformance: yep. the plastic cap should pop out with flat screwdriver. Pulley will required tool.:)
cyn1cal818: All is it fairly simple to remove that button? No special tools required, just pop it out?
SteveXnycperformance: It is possible, but the fuse/relay plastic box will require removal.Plus the Coil pack with bracket will ease removal. It not easy to preform on a car,if u do so please be assisted by someone else. it is not possible to use the power tool while working on the car. the single snout bolt (copper filter) might not be equip on all s/c application, instead, a plastic button might be in place.
cyn1cal818: Would that pulley puller fit while supercharger still in car? Also, I dnt have that bolt on front of the snout either
SteveXnycperformance: When you remove the belt.Use your hand and try to move the pulley back and fought in all direction.. them you might be able to identify the noise
bearster1: where am I gonna find that replacement pulley ??? THANKS !
bearster1: also, is there a key and keyslot on the pulley and shaft or is it strictly a taper fit with the vented bolt applying all the tension to keep it in place? maybe why you are changing it out in the video LOL!!!!
bearster1: Great Job on these videos by the way!!!!
bearster1: Mine is making some noise, chatter and it is hard to verify but is seems as if the pulley, there may be a very small amount of slippage on the shaft. I am going to attempt to tighten the vented bolt although I think that if there is wear it is not gonna get better. Is this the reason for changing the pulley?
jaejay716: I do not have a bolt on the front of my pulley. How can I get the pulley off
SteveXnycperformance: everyone who knows has the tool. the thread always get freaked up after a few sway. With the hub system the tool is only needed once,THE SNOUT BEARING SHOULD BE REPLACE AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE HUB SWAP. :-),
MurderedA6Avant: freaking up the threads on the tool using an impact and could have heated it up just a bit to ease it...
I have a 04 monte supercharged as well. I wouldnt even touch the pully without any of the mods i listed below man. U should join the monte carlo forum if u haven't already. Ull learn a lot!
cyn1cal818: Oh also, careful when swapping pullies. Most ppl ruin their car cuz they drop it too low and dnt realize they have knock. Even some STOCK 3800 sc cars come with a bit of knock retard. Make sure u have supporting mods before lowering pullies. Some basic mods to help are...cold air intake, 180 thermostat, 104 autolite spark plugs, and either a power log or headers. Power log easier to install but more gains out of headers...after all that drop pulley if u have no knock. Typically ppl drop to a 3.4
cyn1cal818: Its always more of a pain to work on the engine and or supercharger with it still being in the car. Better to take it out n do it correctly the first time. Engine work takes time.
To answer a question i quickly saw...changing to a smaller pulley adds more boost which creates more horsepower. Every car is different and results will vary mainly depending on ur current set up. With that bein said every .1 u drop in pulley size is an additional pound of boost. Around 5 horsepower extra id say.
SteveXnycperformance: wait till you have to perform the removal and install with the S/C still attach to the engine in its compartment(under-hood), it twice has hard. thank you.
SteveXnycperformance: It`s a lot of technical work, but it can be done.these car feature a tune-port injection engine with a compression ratio of 9.5:1. the S/C engine is 8.5:1. I would advise you perform a complete engine swap.the trans will work but it software will need Re-cal. s/c gear ratio and non-s/c ratio are not the same. save your money, buy a series II complete from the yard and have it install is happiness. THK
jake josh: active in reverse? theyre vacuum operated so unless the BBVS steps in somehow.....
also do you know how many reverse donuts ive done??!? lol
javier rodriguez: is it possable to put a supercharger on my 92 oldsmoblie 88 3.8 v6 series 1?
plz respond back thanks
VF1Skullangel: Jesus Christ! I thought it was simple to remove these pullies! :(
bamfan2044: You could buy a Modular HUB from ZZP, then all u need is allen tool to change pully sizes
SonyXplods21: how easy is it to change the rotor bearings in the supercharger intake assembly??
SteveXnycperformance: electric car, dude it the future.
zaklange: Wow didn't know it was such a pain in the ass to drop pulley sizes
needzpower2: Intense, 3800, or zzperformance. I usually use the last because their prices are generally lower.
Kyle Robinson: where can i find a aftermarket pulley for more boost? i have a 89 super coupe btw..
melvione4: I have a 2004 Monte Carlo supercharged what size pulley I will need to get me more horsepower
jake josh: i wouldnt go any smaller than 3.6 on a stock engine.
SteveXnycperformance: more hp power, its best to swap the 3.4 pulley with ECM(re-cal).
jlrmywork: i just bought a 2002 buick park avenue ultra with the 3800 series II supercharged engine and wanted to know what does changing the stock pulley do for your car? sorry for the stupid question but im new to the whole supercharger thing. thanks for your help.
Blake Albright: Where do you get a backing plate?
rd95stang: where can a tool like this be bought? i need to get one
rd95stang: thanks alot bro, i showed me exactly what i needed to know, i'll be ordering my refresh kit next week. where would i be able to order the front pulley remover? thanks in advanced
