mrsparex: I had a 2000 Malibu and simply took the heater controls loose and took the radio out. I was able to "fish out" three wires wrapped in black cloth from under the ignition area. I t was about even with the heater controls. WITH THE CAR RUNNING I cut the yellow wire. The theft light stayed on and wouldn't go off but the car would always start! Please keep this thumbed up for others to find...thanks

Clint Coleman: Why did you say do not unplug the radio?
I have a 2002 chevy monte carlo and the security light will not come on for me to reprogram the information. I have tried everything that I know to do and I do not know anything else to try in regards to finding out why the light will not come on .
Please if anyone knows anything about this.

Eric “ss195” G: Incorrect way of fixing this. Placing a resistor in this circuit is a permanent fix without turning switches off and on at random. There are other threads out there describing this by mechanics who understand how this stuff works.

PatV Archery: If i do this would I be able to change the radio in my 2003 chevy malibu

greg james: This guy is great, the real deal, it's been 3 years with no problems! Just have to remember to flip the toggle when you have disconnected the battery. When you restart wait 2 min. then toggle back. A couple pieces of electric tape over the always lit when on thief system light. less annoying. cheers 1999 Malibu, runs great (still)

Justin Webb: That happened to my mom on hers and she got charged 2000 dollars for a new computer this is way cheaper

Rajagopal Appavu: My question: My Chevy Malibu Randomly stalls, Because of theft pass lock system? please let me know. Thanks

wagslick: Yup. I'm no mechanic. Try it at your own risk. My car was running when I did the work.

tripletsontherun: Wagslick are you still out there? I am terrified to touch wires while my car is running. So just to confirm. I leave the battery attached. Actually start the car (not just to the on position right), then take off the frame and move around inside to cut the wire and install the switch. I am fearful of electricity and couldn't hear your car running in the video so I wanted to make sure I got it all right before my kids find me torched in the driveway :-)

jessica daniels: You're a rock star man! This happens to our 2003 Malibu a lot! The thing is, it used to work , putting the key in accessory for 10 minutes. It would start. NOW, it takes 3, 4 times before it will start! That's 40 minutes being stranded somewhere ! Plus the dummy light (anti theft system) doesn't blink in accessory anymore. The light now stays on, not blinking. Any idea? If you could help, I would greatly appreciate it! Have a beautiful weekend!

Edgar Godoy: I did the whole process with the vehicle not on is there going to be a problem?

Nala James: i just did my grand am yesterday...it was sitting for 2 days...cause of this stupid issue....I did mine a little different from yours, I used a resistor instead...had in started in 1/2 hr.....its disable for life.....

Ob Fuscated: There are multiple causes of Passlock problems.

The resistor trick bypasses problems related to the key/lock.

The modules such as Baker Electronix spoof the signal to the PCM from the BCM, which is cheaper by far than a BCM or fighting with a difficult system.

Passlock is commonly disabled with a tune in the PCM.

Resistor is cheaper than module is cheaper than a tune.

JesusLivesandRules: I saw someone else do this with the cigarette lighter...same concept as the toggle but you have to push in the cigarette lighter in order to start the car.

blackroses: My 01 grand am has same prob . Get rid of it . never is fixed.

matt w: I just detach the battery and reconnect it. The system will reset and I usually won't have an issue again for 6 months to a year. I then just do the same thing again. Chevy usually make good vehicles but they really screwed up with these security systems. I'm sure they've learned from it.

you can start the car through the radio you have to press and hold the #3 and #5 then press the brake padal down all the way then press the power button on the radio and press the button on the shifter that starts the car in case its an emergency and you have to press and hold the #3 and #5 and Power and the button on the shifter all at the same time while pressing the brake"

Besides your HORRIBLE spelling and second grade grammar skills, your pointless comment (like in the other threads you have replied to) shows that you are another fine product of a top notch education system! Eddie, THINK before you respond to a technical thread this way you can avoid looking like a dope. Cheers.

Great video Wag, thanks.
