Terry Agosta: My hard drive must be baked... started when I loaded a security software package and now everytime I turn around there's another problem. Can't update, can't free up disc space and can't run trouble shooting, and can't repair or correct drive errors. Running an HP Envy TS 17 Notebook. Any suggestions about where to start?

Greg French: HP Recovery Restore partition, press the F10 at startup. If that is missing you will have to contact HP for a recovery disk.

Greg French: Just put the disk in and and press F12 during startup so that you can select boot from the CD. Then just follow the instructions on the screen.

Greg French: Sounds like a serious hardware failure.
Greg French: Windows will not allow you to install an older operating system. You will have to first remove Vista.

Letocetum sulley: This is assuming you do not own a Lenovo with remote keyboard,,, I've tried everything inc wired keyboard but the screen is stuck along with cursur..... Even my local Lenovo specialist has no solution.... Stupid thing wont recognise anything you plug in... crape Lenovo Crap!
Greg French: You should be able to reboot to a CD/DVD to perform a new installation. If you can't use F12 to change the boot options to boot from the CDROM you can change it in the BIOS.
Greg French: Yes...the factory default is like when you first got it without any files, data, or installed programs.
