jennifer Shriner: do not ever put silicone on metal. silicone has salt and eats and rusts metal

James Richards: Yep what a giant turd of an engine. Nothing redeeming about it. I am doing this job for a fella I know and was debating on the head gasket replacement but seeing the rocker bolts have to be loosened I might as well pull the bolts and do the head gaskets.

The engine didn't spin a bearing or anything but holy crap is there a lot of coolant and sludge through the whole engine. Just an all around bad engine design.

I know why the lower gaskets on the one I am working on failed the bolts backed out and wicked up the bolts. 3 of the lower intake bolts were loose. And I agree completely stupid placement of that one bolt under the p/s pump. Totally not worth the money to even try and fix this. The same job on a 3800 engine is way easier and valve covers can also be left on the whole time.

I have always hated this engine along with the 3100. GM has put out some good stuff over the years but this engine is not an example of that. Thats what they get for outsourcing the engine to China.

sqrlyman1: .. At 15:59 into this Video I see an Obama yard sign sitting in the corner of your garage .. You MORON !!! , people like you are the reason why this Country is such a mess it's in !! .. Thanks for Nothing !! .. lol !!

Gabriel Fraser: once i get the engine tore down that far would i be able to remove the rear exhaust manifold? or is there not enough space to do so?

Aaron Crassweller: we are currently working on a 2002 aztek cant get to spark so we checked timing chain cant find the timing marks and having issues putting into time im hoping you could give us some pointers

Avelino Garza: im having questions could you call me 956-404-8240

Chris Keegan: Hey man, you totally skipped over what seems to be the most stubborn part of the job (to me at least). The bypass pipe that runs underneath the plenum. The one which requires the removal of the fuel injectors to replace! I got a Dorman replacement (first mistake?). The thing has resisted all attempts at inserting it in that hole. My original was rotted, came right out. Can you offer any help? I have a 2001 Chevy Venture. Thanks for your consideration and time.

Joshua Mackall: I'm not having no issues with the system bubbling in the overflow tank. It's just running hot and it has this hissing sound. This mechanic told me if it was the head gasket they will have to machine down the heads. I don't think anything wrapped. When you start it it runs like a champ.

Charles Keilman: How did you remove that water pipe connector the top part nearest to the driver?  I cant figure it out lol

GMCsarge: Apparently nobody makes a service manual for this car. No chilton or haynes available, so where does one find the proper torque specs for this engine ?

Brian Drumm: Did you have to adjust for valve lash or is it really as simple as installing the pushrods back on the lifter, slide the rocker back on and torque away?

Scott Schroetter: dont you know any of the time saving procedures

mach1sph: well nice vid. it let me know that I'm not messin with it. But hey GO HORSE. Colts love

marquis pompey: great vid, have family friend thats getting ready to do same work on my vehicle and check the rocker and lifters? not sure what those are but he says he needs a manual or book to check some things . torque maybe dont know. but do u know where to get instruction manuals and could u tell me what rocker and lifters are?

jetmann33: I am doing the 2002 alero with the same engine. Got everything put back together and now there is a loud knock. Pushrods were put back right so I am thinking one of the lifters went bad, Any opinions?
