Overland Models "Big Blow" Three-Unit Gas Turbine in HO

Did this video help you?

warbonnet64: Excellent video! And that B unit is to die for. I really liked your weathering work on the Matainence of Way cars. Which leads to my next question. Do you think you will ever be able to screw up the courage to weather the turbine? Take your time on that one and again, congratulations on a video well done!

djegopiedra: Llamarada Moe! espectacular maquinon.

Lee Witten: Great model. I'm waiting for Athearn to come out with this. I want #26 in honor of the one at Ogden Union Station where I volunteer.

greylordgr: I know, I have both GTEL 4500 and Veranda by MTH. OMI has made to my knowledge the only HO 1:87 scale Big Blow 8500 Super Turbine. But it is way too expensive... I was wondering if any other maker produced The Super Turbine in HO? And I do not meen the 3 unit experimental Coal Turbine that many mistake for the Big Blow that was using Bunker "C" as fuel and not pulverised coal...

TWIGYBNSF: Super kool. I can't even find one. i am dying to find a cheap one under $1000.00.

katherinestation: Thanks, I hope Athearn go ahead and bulit this wonderful loco!

nyshortline: I read they were so loud it was hard to hear their bells.

synicle0723: oh, and FYI, athearn is contemplating producing this loco, turbine, and tender in the immediate future. Granted, this is only "grapevine", but got this info from a loksound dealer in California, they will start production sometime this year for HO scale

katherinestation: @TWIGYBNSF Thanks, is a very nice model, but expensive. You can find one of thos unpainted for that price.

katherinestation: @TWIGYBNSF Thanks, is a very nice model, but expensive. You can find one of this unpainted for that price.

Marco Buijs: Great model, but the sound would drive me nuts within 10 minutes. I like the weathered MW consist.

katherinestation: @adaribros I did use Pinnacle Studio 12. Regards

katherinestation: @ewsdneax61eaxe10 Hi, thanks. The model is 2003 and you are right about the price. I hope MTH can do a run of thses turbines. Regards

Andrew Beeman: Does that have working suspension? It really looks great.

TWIGYBNSF: @lewitten Wait athearn is comeing out with the Big Blow?

Andy Coones: Very cool,,,,,nice weathering on the cars btw...

greylordgr: Any update, on any company other than OMI, such as (Athearn, MTH, etc...) releasing this beautiful monster locomotive in HO scale? By the way, great video!!!

katherinestation: @djegopiedra Muchas gracias Diego! Saludos Martin

Paul Hebert: Beautiful model!

Adaribros Adam: What program did you use to make this?

synicle0723: biggest problem there was pertaining to the 10700 HP, the reason that wasn't pursued, the couplers couldn't handle the stress behind the fuel tender, the only reason this train came to be, the locomotive produced 8600 HP which meant the loco's could pull 175 cars average, at 10700 HP, the train would be just shy of 6 miles long, theoretically it was possible, but the idea was scrapped due to the couplers stresses, they would just shatter under the stress

Lee Witten: @TWIGYBNSF Nothing yet on a possible big Blow by Athearn but I'm excited to see the U50 in the works. I've got my order for that. Perhaps their next turbine project will be the Big Blow, encourage them every chance you get.

ewsdneax61eaxe10: you have a great model. when did OMI released that thing and how much you pay for it? i'm waiting for a re-run of this model as i don't want to pay 2500 dollars for a 10-15 year old model.

trainssker: Has anyone responding to this video, ever heard one of these Monsters in LIVE operation? Just curious... I can tell you as a small child, I was watched by a woman who was crossing guard for the UP in Grand Island, Nebraska. When she worked, I would go with her & sit and watch trains at a very close proximity. I saw all three versions of the Turbines in operation over the years of their service. They were all amazing, but this one... WOW! When they started up...They got your attention! :-)

katherinestation: @nyshortline Yes, you are right, they were very noisy,
