rhonna ritchie: I have to replace the spokes of my railing. In the video you mention replacing wood. Does green wood need special attention?
Tuba Ing: BS! Don't believe this. Don't waste your time. Don't even think about contacting Olympic for help. They don't want to hear about the "real world".
Mike Lutes: JUST A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !! APPLIED IN THE FALL,EXACTLY AS INSTRUCTED-IN FACT,I SANDED JUST TO GET HAVE A PREPARED SURFACE AND COME SPRING IT STARTED PEELING OFF IN LARGE SHEETS. MOST FRUSTRATING,AS I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT SINCE MAY 13TH WITH THEIR SO CALLED SERVICE SPECIALISTS AND AM STILL WAITING FOR A CALL BACK-I HAVE HAD TO CALL THEM REPEATEDLY AND THEY CLAIM TO BE SENDING ME BACK MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE,BUT NO ADVISE AS TO HOW I CAN REPAIR THIS MESS. STILL NO MONEY!! I JUST CAME IN FROM SPENDING AN HOUR SANDING,SO I CAN TRY REAPPLYING,BUT WHEN I BLEW THE FLAKES AND DUST OFF MY PORCH WITH A LEAF BLOWER,MORE PIECES STARTED TO LIFT.THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM DISTRIBUTION AS IT DOES NOT WORK AND THEY DO NOT SEEM TO CARE?
Ryan Moore: This product is a waste of time and money. Like others, mine is peeling off in large chunks.
Marsha Landrum: I agree with others on here. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!! I did all they said. It was beautiful when it was first done. I was going to buy the Rustolium (sp) product and was talked into this by a Lowe's employee. Don't know if the other was better or not. After winter it had peeled pretty bad. I used a leaf blower to blow it off in spring, and it was flying everywhere!!! What a mess. I am going to write the company but doubt if it will do any good. I am going to replace the deck with the man made deck. Terrible waste of money, time, and work!!!
35MelMo: Horrible product. As soon as the snow melted it all peeled off, and we followed the directions completely. What's worse is the horrible customer service we received at Olympic paint. They said they would stand by their product 100% and then started accusing ME of not applying it properly. Don't trust this product or company.
me Peter: This stuff worked great when I put it on. After one winter it flakes and peels I highly recommend NOT using it. I followed all direcctions to a T.
Babs Lynn: This product only makes matters much worse!!! Olympic is promoting this throughout Lowes stores and consumers beware...stay away!! It looks great for the first 5 months, then it starts to peel, in no consistent pattern. I did everything they recommended and it has failed and I have a mess, and Olympic is absolutely no help.
Tuba Ing: I "rescued" my deck using "Olympic RESCUE IT" in October 2013. Looked and felt great after two coats. Now, in the spring of 2014 (six months later) there is flaking, peeling, cracking, rust showing through from the coated deck screws. After using Kilz and multiple coats of the deck coating on the screws, it still shows through. I live in a moderate climate area of the country. All of the cleaning instructions including using the "Olympic premium deck cleaner" product prior to using the "rescue it" coating were followed. I have pictures if you are interested.
wadougherty1: I did my deck last summer with this stuff. Looked awesome until the winter thaw. 1/3 of the deck is cracked and peeled. Followed all of the cleaning instructions prior to coating. Out over $500. Should be criminalized.
wilfred kelch: i have the same problem as adam, i talked the company they say they are going to give me a refund, all that extra work,i am going to have to strip, sand, recoat,be interested to see how much they pay
adam vidis: I might try this. I did use RESTORE and lost $5k last year. Total Disaster.
Honey Beenot: My husband and I just finished the second coat on our deck....praying it last ten years...its a big floor...will do the rails another day.
Jim Gold: Olympic, you may want to seek a professional to show you guys how to correctly do the job, THEN make a video. Screams from uneven, two toned decks all over America
Jeremy R: Here goes nothing... I mean something.
zestydude87: THanks for the tip!
Ward oo: I, with a little help, built a 16' by 8' hayride wagon for Patapsco Valley State Park, Maryland, with new wood and painted it, sides and floor, with just over 2 gallons of Rescue It. You need to keep it mixed from day to day, as it will separate with the sand-like texture settling to the bottom of the can. Yes, it is textured and great for wooden steps. Above all - allow the 6 hours between paint coats.
50hellkat2: great idea
