Amy Berg: Thank you so much! I'm starting to wonder actually if Imaginarium is made by Kidkraft because I saw one dollhouse and one train set on Amazon both by Imaginarium even with a photo of the Imaginarium box... But then also the Kidkraft logo on a picture of the item setup... Interesting. Thanks again for your input! I hope he likes it he's getting it next weekend :)
Amy Berg: Hi we're getting a train table for our sons third birthday... I am deciding between Imaginarium ... The current mountain rock one... and Kidkraft metropolis train table... You briefly mentioned Kidkraft in this video... Just curious of your thoughts between the two brands in general and if you know anything specifically about the Kidkraft metropolis table? Thanks in advance!
TheHelpfuldad: glad to help. we actually have a video on this too but the short answer is that the wooden ones look nicer but I personally think you can do more with the trackmaster ones, plus they are less expensive and more durable over the long run. goog luck
Kelsey Craner: Hi, thank you so much for your reviews! My son is almost 4 and we are wanting to get him his first train set and track for Christmas. I cannot decide between the trackmaster or a wooden set up on a table! I've noticed in your reviews you have both I am wondering with your experience which did your son enjoy the most if he could only have one? Thanks so much!
TheHelpfuldad: I would probably wait for the imaginarium to go on sale - usually u can get those for about 100-120 often during the year. then you can use the extra money for official thomas gear. Now if you are saying you can pay $200 for the thomas and get $100 of thomas items for free then it's probably a wash and you might as well go thomas table. good luck with decision
Erin Francis: Great video thank you for the input. We are looking to buy a train set for our sons second birthday. The offer now at toys r us is $150.00 for the imagineraium and $200.00 for the official Thomas but the special offer is$100.00 towards any Thomas track or accessories. Would that sway you decision.
Cea E: Glad I came across this for my son
TheHelpfuldad: glad to help. happy holidays!
suzie52610: so helpful! Thank you so much!
TheHelpfuldad: glad it helped you.
littlegarn: Thank you SO much for the info!
TheHelpfuldad: Both are good sets and you'll enjoy either one. City Central is kinda cool but it wasn't available when we purchased this one. I'd compare the 'features' of each and see which of the special items appeal most to you and go with that one but either way is fine. then purchase your thomas trains separately. a good way to go. enjoy!
TheHelpfuldad: alas, you have me there b/c I'm not sure what's best to use either. I'd ask for advice at Home Depot and see what they recommend. let me know what you end up doing. thanks
DiaperWarrior: thanks!! i think i am going to just buy some acrylic paint from a craft store maybe? and paint on some streets and stuff on the plain green side... Or maybe get a piece of Luan from Home Depot or Lowes and paint that? Not sure what to coat it with though... any ideas? I am not crafty with paint LOL.
TheHelpfuldad: Hi, I have not been able to find a way to buy extra table tops so if you want one to customize, you might get a prefab wood top, paint as you desire, then coat the top to protect it. however, the reversable table tops that come with the set are pretty durable and you can roll the trains on them without scratching. as an alternative, try to find the "My First Thomas" set by Golden Bear Toys -- bigger cars, tracks without grooves - could be perfect for you
DiaperWarrior: I just bought this table yesterday, but mine is a little different. Mine is the Imaginarium City Central Train Table. I LOVE it, but i was wondering if you knew of where i can get replacement table toppers from. My son doesnt quite grasp the "train on the track in the grooves" concept yet and i wanted to maybe get a separate table top and paint on some streets and what not, but i dont want to ruin the original top, either side.
LaToya Jones: Great review! Just what I needed. Thanks!
