Joel Heiks: At about 2 1/2 minutes into the video, he recommends replacing the capacitors with ones rated at a "higher" voltage. He goes on to say that he is not an electrician. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. Somehow in his untrained wisdom he thinks that the engineers that designed and built this equipment got it wrong and should have gone with "MORE POWER".
As I write this, I see that there have been over 158 thousand views. I hope they are all still with us.

Austin Evans: for caps that is incorrect, you should try to stay within the same volts if you can, you can go larger with uf, I sometimes go slightly more uf just because to give it more life. Liquid filled caps age, and deteriorate so if its slightly bigger than it will last longer. Also it is a good idea to add cooling caps will pop from getting to hot.
Karl XZY: hey man, what type of soldering iron did you use? I see that there are a few different versions, I assume for different uses?
Also, is the only way to find out what sort of capacitors to replace is to open up the TV, located the dead ones, note down the details/numbers and then go to a shop to buy the replacements..?
I've been given, for free, a 42" LG 42LB9DF-AD TV which has a black screen for about 8-10 minutes before it will eventually start showing a picture. I've been told it's the caps
Chad Nelson: Good VIdeo. I have a KDL-32EX40B Sony TV. My house was struck by lightning while the tv was off and now it does not turn on. Whats the likelihood that it is just the capacitors and not anything else? Also, if it is not the capacitors, what else could it be? Thank you!!!

Peeps R Ok: @tony11, yea same here, mine is an samsung 43 inch, and i was playing vid games, i figured it was either my hdmi i was using, beacuse maybe it couldnt take all the graphics, and i was playing at 50% volume too. so the screen went blck, i can still hear the music and the game sounds from my xbox, but when i turned the tv off, tried to turn it back on it just clicked but then clicked a few more times and stayed off. if any body can explain either its the capaciator or just need to leave it alone.
