Robert Seviour: You mentioned that vinegar could be used as a rinse instead of baking soda. The vinegar isn't going to do what you want, ie neutralise any residual citric acid because vinegar is another acid - it's dilute acetic acid. You were right with baking soda which is a base and does neutralise acids. For the guys mentioning a funny taste to water run through a still as the final stage of rinsing - do a "dry run" with a mash and then discard the product. After that you aren't going to smell / taste anything strange.

usanineoneone: New to all this. Just made a coloum still from copper piping. Cleaned it with hot vinegar then some lime juice. Everything is looking clean and shiny inside but distilling a few batches of water through it has a particular taste to the water. Any ideas what's happening?

Bax Bax: Lemons

anthony7938: @RGCbaseace you get them from the beer industry

Randy McFarland: I'm thinking vinegar.

Randy McFarland: Looking for the same answer. any luck? Mine is ss lid and pot and all copper tubing.
