Paul Currier: Great video.  I got it done and things appear to.be working fine.  My question is that their was no grounding strap but a green grounding wire hanging down from inside the machine.  I pushed it back out of the way, and used the one from the cord to the body. Is it ok for it to hang there??? Should I tape it?? I think it's connected to the neutral wire a little ways up in the machine.  Thanks for any advice.

Cail Ballenger: This video was so helpful. I've asked 3 or 4 people to change my maytag 3 prong dryer card for me to a 4 prong & everybody said they couldn't do it. I did it & I'm proud of myself & this video. Now I can stop spending money at the laundry drying my families clothing.

sowsplace: I have a 4 prong wall outlet for my dryer and just bought a used maytag dryer with a three prong plug. The dryer is model LDE8406ACE 3 wire 60Hz 5600 watts and my old dryer had a 4 prong on it. So do I take the 4 prong from the old dryer and connect to my 3 prong dryer? My wall outlet is a 220.

Joel Watson: THANK YOU!!!!! You saved us!   So simple with your directions and patient instructions! Thank you again!

Shamika Davis: i dropped one of the washers in the dryer are those needed. ???

Pam Cooper: you sound like a suprised potato after going through charzards intestinal track <3

CarolyntheGreat: My dryer might be older.  It has no cord on it at all.  Do I just put the wires on in this same order from left to right?  I have to use a four prong outlet.  I have the right cord, I'm just not sure what order to put on the wires.  Is there some way to tell?  I would love to know this.  The bar for connection with screws is horizontal instead of vertical.  I imagine green is always the ground, but I don't want to confuse red and black especially.  Any help would be appreciated.  THANK YOU!

gabriel leon: I never changed anything. and this video was so clear and easy to follow. I did it myself and it worked thank u so much.

Ryan Mantzel: I watched the heater element videos: tested the upper cut out and thermostat both checked out. What next?

Eye Heart Sushi: Thanks to your tutorial, I was able to convert my Maytag dryer from 3-wire to 4-wire. Sent a little PayPal money your way. Again, thank you very much for your excellent tutorial!

Camille Devine: Thank you so much. I was lost until I found this video lol have a great day.

canyonman1963: ALSO, make sure the red and black wires from the power cord didn't get a cut on the insulation during install, and could have shorted the wire to the machine. If the motor is bad, it will usually make a loud buzz when trying to start it. Then it will only run until it overheats and shuts off automatically. Once it cools down, it will reset and try to run again till it overheats, etc. So if the wiring and voltage is right, it could be bad motor.

canyonman1963: It sounds like the motor is bad, or the wiring is wrong somewhere. 1st, use a volt meter to test for proper voltage. You should get 120 volts from Term L1 to Neutral as well as Term L2 to Neutral, then 240 volts from term L1 to L2. If this is not the results you get, verify the red and black wires go to L1 and L2, and the white wire goes to the middle terminal neutral, and the green wire is grounded to the machine. If all right but voltage reads wrong, the house plug is wired wrong.

Nathaniel Mardoc: Thank you for a really great tutorial. I was able to perform the swap from 3 prong to 4 prong exactly to your instructions. After finishing the project, I plugged in and turned on the dryer to test. It turned on and was very loud, almost like it was over-working, and then shut off after 5 seconds or so and didn't turn back on. I tried again 20 minutes later and got the same result. Can you think of what would cause this? Did I make a mistake on installation?

ss hog: i have no idea where it comes from. its from an old machine and i put a new but used one iin , found out i had to switch the cords so it could fit. i did it without knowing that 4 prongs are the way to go now. i will climb back there to see where it came from like you said it may be for somthing else. thanks alot for your help.
