vk3ye: Thanks Peter. As for the yard, all I did was lay some paving, paint the
fence, plant a ground cover and paint a thrown out table. The biggest
project has been the deck (around the other side of the L-shaped yard),
featured on the 160m loop comparison video.
snarfusmaximus: Excellent video. I alleviated boredom one Sunday evening a fair while ago
by building a makeshift loop antenna by wrapping wire around a cardboard
box and using a valve radio tuning cap. I hooked it up to my FT-817ND and
could pick up AM stations as far as Sydney and Dubbo. Yep, radio is as bad
there as it is here in Melbourne. ;-) Have fun! Emil - VK3NAF
Jeep Cherokee: Nice and simple. If it is a radio that I have dedicated to the loop, then I
will open it up and do a 1-turn loop around the internal antenna; this
provides even better gain and makes the loop even more directional.
