Zvejnieku Iela: Ok, after using XFCE for a couple of hours I can honestly say that the only
good thing it did to me is that now ChromeOS seems a bit less of a piece of
sh*t. The XFCE has really given me headache. First of all, it doesn't seem
to properly recognize the touchpad sensitivity on the ChromeBook -- all the
clicks have to be made the hard way, heavily pressing the touchpad which
gets extremely annoying since the CB touchpad doesn't seem to be built to
be used this way. Every time I press the touchpad, the laptop itself bends
good 5 mm inwards. Second, the interfaces are terrible and even lower
quality than those of the ChromeOS. Third, the VLC player I installed
doesn't play videos, why? Fourth, now it's not running anything at all. All
the interfaces of the windows have gone blank, the mouse icon is a black
cross and nothing moves, and it remains this way however many times I
reboot the system. All of this happened only because I tried to copy a test
video file from my Macbook Pro. Why? What the hell?
Remy Basi: thanks man can't wait to try this

Matrice Jackson: I was trying to install Linux on my ARM Samsung Chromebook and the WI FI in
the public library cut off. This seem to stop the process. However, when I
tried to re-install it, the system said it was already installed but I
could not pull up the Unbuntu desktop using the sudo startxfce4 command. I
powerwashed the system, went into Developer Mode again and try to install
my freshly downloaded crouton file using the "sudo sh -e
~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce" command. All I kept getting was this: "sh:
Can't open /home/chronos/user/Downloads/crouton". What should I do to
finally install Linux?
Tom2112Tom: Very cool! Thanks for the instructions. Here's some helpful hints for quick
Ctrl-D - skips the boot warning
Ctrl-Shift-T - opens the ChromeOS terminal window
In the terminal:
shell - starts the command shell so you can kick off XFCE (Linux)
sudo startxfce4 - command to start XFCE (only needed if you rebooted or
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Right-Arrow or Left-Arrow: switch between ChromeOS and XFCE
(note that's not the cursor arrows at the bottom right of the keyboard, it
is the two arrows next to the Esc key in the upper left.)
